BKGC makes news in THE EXAMINER! MAJOR MEDAL HAUL FOR BARRIE KEMPETTES (STAFF) -- Athletes with the Barrie Kempettes Gymnastics Club competed at a pair of provincial qualifiers recently. Competing in the club's third artistic provincial qualifier, hosted by the Borden Gymnastics Club, the Kempettes artistic athletes hauled in 11 medals and earned six top-five overall placings. Jasmine Noseworthy won her Level 6 category for 12-and 13-yearolds, qualifying for the Ontario Cup along with Jessica Turza, Kaleigh Potts and Chloe Major. Potts finished seventh in vault, fourth in uneven bars, fourth in balance beam, eighth in floor and third overall in the Level 6 category for those aged 14 and up. Major finished 14th in vault and third in balance beam in the same category, while Noseworthy finished second in vault, second in uneven bars, fourth in balance beam, and fourth in floor. Competing in the Level 5 division for 10-and 11-year-olds, Hailee Morgan placed second in vault, fourth in uneven bars, ninth in balance beam, first in floor and fifth overall, tying Rachel Wise, who placed seventh in vault, 12th in uneven bars, third in beam, first in floor and fifth overall. Sarah Bond finished fifth in vault, sixth in uneven bars, first in beam, seventh in floor and fourth overall in the Level 5 category for 12-and 13- year-olds. At the club's second provincial qualifier in Etobicoke, tumbler Natasha Webber placed second in the 'D' division for those aged 12 and up to qualify for the provincial trampoline and tumbling championship at Seneca College. Competing in the 'B' division for those aged 14 and up, Rachel Blake finished 15th, while Natalie Bruno placed 16th in the 'D' division for those aged 12 and up.
