What is the $45 Gymnastics Ontario/BKGC Admin Fee?

Barrie Kempettes is a member of Gymnastics Ontario and is charged for this. This charge is an annual fee (July 1st – June 30th). This membership means that your child is also a member of Gymnastics Ontario.

Are there any age restrictions?

Children must be the correct age for the selected program or 30 days after the session begins. A birth certificate may be requested to verify the child's age.

Can I register early?

Only those who are in a current program can register early. They will receive a pre-registration form through their coach during their current program. This will happen for each session you are a member of BKGC programs excluding Summer.

Can I take pictures?

The BKGC will no longer allow picture taking or video taping during our programs. This is an effort to preserve people’s rights to privacy and is in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Do I have to register in person?

No. You have the choice to register ONLINE or to come in to our facility during our specific registration Days and Times.

Please note that when registering online ... you will be required to come to our facility during the first 2 weeks of programs to collect your Mandatory Fundraising item.

Do I have to stay?

You do not have to stay during your child’s class. We ask that if they need assistance to go to the washroom that you please stay or let their coach know you will be leaving. Also, please make sure that we have the correct contact information/numbers for whom ever will be with your child. After class coaches are not responsible for your child, so please make sure you are here at the ending of their class.

Is Financial Assistance available?

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes! A 10% sibling discount will be applied on 2 or more children and will be based on the lowest program fee. Family discounts do not apply to pro-rated fees or day camps.

Is there a transfer fee?

A $35 Transfer Fee will be charged should you wish to switch programs. This must be paid for prior to your child being moved.

What are the payment options?

Payments can be made by Cash, Debit, Visa & MasterCard (Cheques made out to BKGC are only accepted 2 weeks before program begins)

$35.00 Administration fee for any NSF Cheques.

What do I do on the first day of my child's class?

Plan to show up 15 minutes prior to the beginning of your child's class. You are welcome to utilize the change rooms to change into shorts & a tee-shirt or a body suit to get your child ready for class. Remember to remove all shoes and socks, as gymnastics is done in bare feet. Please wait with your child in the gym's Main Lobby, just to the right of the Main Office until your child's coach comes to get the class. Please do not allow your child to enter the gym until their coach has come to take attendance and escorts your child into the gym. You will receive a "First Day Newsletter" from your child's coach with important information regarding the session of gymnastics, so please read through it carefully. You are welcome to stay and watch your child's class, or leave and come back to pick them up at the end of their class. Viewing can be done from the Barrie Kempettes Main Lobby or in the Upstairs Lobby. Once the class is complete, athletes will be dismissed through the change rooms. Feel free to introduce yourself to your child's coach and address any concerns you may have with them. Welcome to the Barrie Kempettes Gymnastics Club!

What is the refund policy?

(GO/BKGC Admin Fees/Fundraisers are non-refundable)
For Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer Evening Programs, you will receive a full refund less a $35.00 administration fee if your request is received in the main office, in writing, 1 week prior to the start of the first class. If you decide to cancel less than 1 week before the first class, you will receive a 50% refund of the program cost. No refunds will be issued once the 2nd class has started. Classes may be cancelled due to low registration. You will be offered a full refund, a transfer into another class based on its availability or a credit note. Once program have started, if the final registration numbers are insufficient to continue running the program, you will be given the choice to switch into another time slot/day or accept a credit note/refund for the program fee only, that will be pro-rated. We cannot make up classes or issue refunds/credit notes that are cancelled due to inclement weather or for reasons beyond our control. If you are cancelling due to medical reasons, a written note accompanied by a doctor's note must be submitted to the main office in order to receive a pro-rated refund of the program most and must be received prior to the completion of the current session in which you are registered for. Medical refunds are based on the date your written notice was received, not back to the last day the child attended class. No credits or refunds will be issued for missed classes.

What should my child wear?

All female gymnasts are encouraged to wear a one-piece body suit however, t-shirts and shorts are acceptable. Male gymnasts are asked to wear sport shorts and T-shirt (tucked in). Clothing that is tightly fitted is preferred so gymnasts are not concerned about clothing falling off while they are swinging or upside-down. No skating dresses, body suits with skirts, skirts, jeans, shorts or pants with belts, buckles or zippers. Bare feet only, no gymnastic slippers, stockings or ballet slippers are necessary. Long hair must be tied back during class. Absolutely NO jewellery (including friendship bracelets) to be worn. Hoop earrings MUST be removed prior to class or be taped. Studs are acceptable. If your child wears a medical alert ID, leave it on and we will tape it on for safety.

Where can I / my child leave their belongings during their gymnastics class?

You are invited to leave your/ your child's belongings in the change rooms provided. Lockers may be utilized, but locks are not permitted unless your child is a member of one of our Team Programs. Please leave valuables at home, as the Barrie Kempettes Gymnastics Club is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Thank you for your co-operation!
